14^th METU International ELT Convention

The Department of Basic English, in collaboration with the Department of Modern Languages, is proud to announce that the 14^th METU International ELT Convention will take place on 17-19 June 2022 in a hybrid format.

The global pandemic has rearranged the plans in the whole world, as well as those of METU International ELT Convention. First time in its 30-year history, our convention, which was to be held in June 2020, had to be postponed for 2 years. With pandemic restrictions easing in many parts of the world, we would like to proudly inform you that, this year, we are planning to hold the 14th METU International ELT Convention on 17-19 June, 2022 in a hybrid manner.

Hybrid conferences are gaining popularity everywhere with the new pandemic regulations, and here is how we are going to ‘hybridize’ our event: The first two days of the Convention (Friday and Saturday, 17-18 June 2022) will take place at the Culture and Convention Center on METU Campus, Ankara, Turkey with selected sessions being recorded and livestreamed for our online audience, and the third day of the event (Sunday, 19 June 2022) will be fully online, where the speakers and the audience will meet on our virtual platform.

We strongly believe that our chosen theme “Reflections” for the 2020 Convention has gained a different meaning and value now. We predict that we all have reflections on our unique experience during the pandemic to share with one another. To this end, we would like to send an open invitation to everyone interested in different walks of ELT to share opinions, experiences and reflections in this reunion.
